Popular Uses of Yellow Grease
Yellow grease is collected used cooking oil. Buyers use it as a feed fat, as a biofuel feedstock, and as a fat for oleochemical products. It is not a lubricating grease for machinery, and it is not sold here as an organic or food-equipment lubricant.
Animal feed
In animal feed, yellow grease is used as an energy ingredient in some livestock rations. A feed fat can also be a blend of used cooking oil and rendered animal fat. That blend is a specification the buyer and the seller agree on. This page does not quote a free-fatty-acid limit or a price.
Biodiesel
Yellow grease is a feedstock for biodiesel and for renewable diesel. The kitchen oil is the raw material. The fuel plant does the manufacturing.
Oleochemicals
Fats and oils from this stream are also used to make soaps, detergents, and other oleochemical products.
