Yellow Grease as a Biofuel Feedstock
What the feedstock is
Yellow grease is used cooking oil after it has been collected. Fryer oil set aside in a container is the used cooking oil. Yellow grease is the trade name for that oil. It is not the same name as waste vegetable oil, and it is not grease from a trap.

What a plant uses it for
A biofuel plant takes yellow grease as a feedstock. Biodiesel is one fuel made from it. Renewable diesel, made by treating fats and oils with hydrogen, is another. GREASE.ORG collects the used cooking oil. GREASE.ORG is not a refinery and does not issue sustainability certificates.
What belongs in the container
A plant wants a load that is mostly oil. The kitchen cools the fryer oil and holds it in a closed container. Water and food scraps are defects in that load. Trap grease is a different feedstock. It is brown grease, and fuel plants treat it as a different stream.
